Ta-Ha • Ayah 65 of 135 • English

قَالُوا يَا مُوسَىٰ إِمَّا أَنْ تُلْقِيَ وَإِمَّا أَنْ نَكُونَ أَوَّلَ مَنْ أَلْقَىٰ

Translation:

They said, "O Moses, either you throw or we will be the first to throw." Ta-Ha 20:65 ^⧉

Tafsir:

Tafsir excerpt from Ta-Ha 20:64 ^⧉

فَأَجْمِعُوا كَيْدَكُمْ ثُمَّ ائْتُوا صَفًّا (So, make your plot firm and forth in one row - Ta-Ha 20:64 ^⧉). Formation of troops in ranks in battle has an unsettling effect on the enemy, so the Egyptian magicians arranged themselves in ranks for the contest.
