At-Talaq • Ayah 8 of 12 • Anglo-Saxon English

Translation:
How many populations that insolently opposed the Command of their Lord and of His messengers, did We not then call to account,- to severe account?- and We imposed on them an exemplary Punishment. At-Talaq 65:8
Tafsir:
The tafsir of this ayah is mentioned in At-Talaq 65:10
‘So, fear God, O men of understanding.’ This statement indicates that the fountainhead of piety (taqwa) is the mind. Only by using his wisdom and consciousness does a man achieve that status which is called (taqwa) in the Islamic law.
