وَإِنْ كَذَّبُوكَ فَقُلْ لِي عَمَلِي وَلَكُمْ عَمَلُكُمْ ۖ أَنْتُمْ بَرِيئُونَ مِمَّا أَعْمَلُ وَأَنَا بَرِيءٌ مِمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ
Wain kaththabooka faqul lee AAamalee walakum AAamalukum antum bareeoona mimma aAAmalu waana bareeon mimma taAAmaloona (41)
( وإن كذبوك ) يا محمد ، ( فقل لي عملي ) وجزاؤه ، ( ولكم عملكم ) وجزاؤه ، ( أنتم بريئون مما أعمل وأنا بريء مما تعملون ) هذا كقوله تعالى : " لنا أعمالنا ولكم أعمالكم " ( القصص - 55 ) ، " لكم دينكم ولي دين " ( الكافرون - 6 ) .
قال الكلبي ومقاتل : هذه الآية منسوخة بآية الجهاد .
ثم أخبر أن التوفيق للإيمان به لا بغيره :
If they reject you O Messenger, then you will be rewarded for what you do, and your actions are your responsibility; and that they will be repaid for what they do, and they will have to deal with the consequences of their actions. They will not be responsible for what happens to you, and you are free from what happens to them.
