وَإِمَّا نُرِيَنَّكَ بَعْضَ الَّذِي نَعِدُهُمْ أَوْ نَتَوَفَّيَنَّكَ فَإِلَيْنَا مَرْجِعُهُمْ ثُمَّ اللَّهُ شَهِيدٌ عَلَىٰ مَا يَفْعَلُونَ
Waimma nuriyannaka baAAda allathee naAAiduhum aw natawaffayannaka failayna marjiAAuhum thumma Allahu shaheedun AAala ma yafAAaloona (46)
قوله تعالى : ( وإما نرينك ) يا محمد ، ( بعض الذي نعدهم ) في حياتك من العذاب ، ( أو نتوفينك ) قبل تعذيبهم ، ( فإلينا مرجعهم ) في الآخرة ، ( ثم الله شهيد على ما يفعلون ) فيجزيهم به ، " ثم " بمعنى الواو ، تقديره : والله شهيد . قال مجاهد : فكان البعض الذي أراه قتلهم ببدر ، وسائر أنواع العذاب بعد موتهم .
Regardless of whether Allah shows the Messenger (peace be upon him)some of the punishment He promises them before his death, or He makes him die before this, they will return to Allah on the Day of Judgement. Moreover, Allah is a witness to what they used to do, none of it being hidden from Him, and they will be repaid for their actions.
