قُلْ لَا أَمْلِكُ لِنَفْسِي ضَرًّا وَلَا نَفْعًا إِلَّا مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ ۗ لِكُلِّ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلٌ ۚ إِذَا جَاءَ أَجَلُهُمْ فَلَا يَسْتَأْخِرُونَ سَاعَةً ۖ وَلَا يَسْتَقْدِمُونَ
Qul la amliku linafsee darran wala nafAAan illa ma shaa Allahu likulli ommatin ajalun itha jaa ajaluhum fala yastakhiroona saAAatan wala yastaqdimoona (49)
( قل لا أملك لنفسي ) لا أقدر لها على شيء ، ( ضرا ولا نفعا ) أي : دفع ضر ولا جلب نفع ، ( إلا ما شاء الله ) أن أملكه ، ( لكل أمة أجل ) مدة مضروبة ، ( إذا جاء أجلهم ) وقت فناء أعمارهم ، ( فلا يستأخرون ساعة ولا يستقدمون ) أي : لا يتأخرون ولا يتقدمون .
Say to them O Messenger, 'I have no control over anything benefiting or harming me, so how can I control benefit or harm for other people, apart from what Allah wills? How then do I know the Ghaib? Allah has appointed a set time for the destruction of every nation; but only Allah knows the times. If the time of your destruction has arrived, it cannot be brought forward or delayed by even a second.'
