إِنَّ الَّذِينَ لَا يَرْجُونَ لِقَاءَنَا وَرَضُوا بِالْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَاطْمَأَنُّوا بِهَا وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ عَنْ آيَاتِنَا غَافِلُونَ
Inna allatheena la yarjoona liqaana waradoo bialhayati alddunya waitmaannoo biha waallatheena hum AAan ayatina ghafiloona (7)
( إن الذين لا يرجون لقاءنا ) أي : لا يخافون عقابنا ولا يرجون ثوابنا . والرجاء يكون بمعنى الخوف والطمع ، ( ورضوا بالحياة الدنيا ) فاختاروها وعملوا لها ، ( واطمأنوا بها ) سكنوا إليها . ( والذين هم عن آياتنا غافلون ) أي : عن أدلتنا غافلون لا يعتبرون . وقال ابن عباس رضي الله عنهما : عن آياتنا عن محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم والقرآن غافلون معرضون .
The disbelievers who do not prepare themselves for their meeting with Allah, not fearing it or desiring it, who are satisfied with the life of the world, which is passing, instead of the eternal life of the Afterlife, feeling themselves at home in this world and content with it, and who do not consider Allah’s signs –
