لِيَكْفُرُوا بِمَا آتَيْنَاهُمْ ۚ فَتَمَتَّعُوا ۖ فَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ
Liyakfuroo bima ataynahum fatamattaAAoo fasawfa taAAlamoona (55)
( ليكفروا ) ليجحدوا ، [ وهذه اللام تسمى لام العاقبة ، أي : حاصل أمرهم هو كفرهم ] ( بما آتيناهم ) أعطيناهم من النعماء وكشف الضراء والبلاء ، ( فتمتعوا ) أي : عيشوا في الدنيا المدة التي ضربتها لكم ، ( فسوف تعلمون ) عاقبة أمركم . هذا وعيد لهم .
Their associating partners with Allah meant that they in fact reject Allah’s favours to them, including Allah saving them from their distress after they had called on Him alone. It was therefore said to them: Enjoy the luxuries that you have until Allah’s penalty comes to you sooner or later.
