وَجَعَلْنَا عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ أَكِنَّةً أَنْ يَفْقَهُوهُ وَفِي آذَانِهِمْ وَقْرًا ۚ وَإِذَا ذَكَرْتَ رَبَّكَ فِي الْقُرْآنِ وَحْدَهُ وَلَّوْا عَلَىٰ أَدْبَارِهِمْ نُفُورًا
WajaAAalna AAala quloobihim akinnatan an yafqahoohu wafee athanihim waqran waitha thakarta rabbaka fee alqurani wahdahu wallaw AAala adbarihim nufooran (46)
( وجعلنا على قلوبهم أكنة ) أغطية ( أن يفقهوه ( كراهية أن يفقهوه . وقيل : لئلا يفقهوه ، ( وفي آذانهم وقرا ( ثقلا لئلا يسمعوه ( وإذا ذكرت ربك في القرآن وحده ( يعني إذا قلت : لا إله إلا الله في القرآن وأنت تتلوه ( ولوا على أدبارهم نفورا ( جمع " نافر " مثل : قاعد وقعود وجالس وجلوس أي نافرين .
I have put covers on their hearts so that they cannot understand the Qur’ān, and heaviness in their ears so that they cannot listen to it in a beneficial manner. When you mention your Lord in the Qur’ān alone, and you do not mention their so-called gods, they turn on their heels being far away from accepting Allah’s pure Oneness.
