وَكَذَٰلِكَ أَعْثَرْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ لِيَعْلَمُوا أَنَّ وَعْدَ اللَّهِ حَقٌّ وَأَنَّ السَّاعَةَ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهَا إِذْ يَتَنَازَعُونَ بَيْنَهُمْ أَمْرَهُمْ ۖ فَقَالُوا ابْنُوا عَلَيْهِمْ بُنْيَانًا ۖ رَبُّهُمْ أَعْلَمُ بِهِمْ ۚ قَالَ الَّذِينَ غَلَبُوا عَلَىٰ أَمْرِهِمْ لَنَتَّخِذَنَّ عَلَيْهِمْ مَسْجِدًا
Wakathalika aAAtharna AAalayhim liyaAAlamoo anna waAAda Allahi haqqun waanna alsaAAata la rayba feeha ith yatanazaAAoona baynahum amrahum faqaloo ibnoo AAalayhim bunyanan rabbuhum aAAlamu bihim qala allatheena ghalaboo AAala amrihim lanattakhithanna AAalayhim masjidan (21)
قوله عز وجل : ( وكذلك أعثرنا ) أي : أطلعنا ( عليهم ) يقال : عثرت على الشيء : إذا اطلعت عليه وأعثرت غيري أي : أطلعته ( ليعلموا أن وعد الله حق ) يعني قوم بيدروس الذين أنكروا البعث ( وأن الساعة لا ريب فيها إذ يتنازعون بينهم أمرهم ) قال ابن عباس : يتنازعون في البنيان فقال المسلمون : نبني عليهم مسجدا يصلي فيه الناس لأنهم على ديننا وقال المشركون : نبني عليهم بنيانا لأنهم من أهل نسبنا .
وقال عكرمة : تنازعوا في البعث ، فقال المسلمون : البعث للأجساد والأرواح معا ، وقال قوم : للأرواح دون الأجساد فبعثهم الله تعالى وأراهم أن البعث للأجساد والأرواح .
وقيل : تنازعوا في مدة لبثهم . وقيل : في عددهم .
( ( فقالوا ابنوا عليهم بنيانا ربهم أعلم بهم قال الذين غلبوا على أمرهم ) بيدروس الملك وأصحابه ( لنتخذن عليهم مسجدا )
Just as I did those wondrous acts, of putting them to sleep and awakening them after many years, indicating My Power, I caused them to be discovered by the people of their city, so that those people would know that the promise of Allah to help the believers and of resurrection is true, and that the rising is coming without doubt. After the matter of the people of the cave was exposed and they had passed away, those who discovered them differed: What should they do with regard to them? One group said: Build over the entrance of the cave a building that will serve as a barrier and will preserve them. Their Lord knows best about their condition and their condition requires that they have some special status in His sight. The influential people who did not have knowledge or a proper call said: I will set up over them a place of worship in their honour and as a memoir of their location.
