إِنَّا جَعَلْنَا مَا عَلَى الْأَرْضِ زِينَةً لَهَا لِنَبْلُوَهُمْ أَيُّهُمْ أَحْسَنُ عَمَلًا
Inna jaAAalna ma AAala alardi zeenatan laha linabluwahum ayyuhum ahsanu AAamalan (7)
( إنا جعلنا ما على الأرض زينة لها ) فإن قيل : أي زينة في الحيات والعقارب والشياطين؟
قيل : فيها زينة على معنى أنها تدل على وحدانية الله تعالى .
وقال مجاهد : أراد به الرجال خاصة وهم زينة الأرض . وقيل : أراد بهم العلماء والصلحاء وقيل : الزينة بالنبات والأشجار والأنهار كما قال : " حتى إذا أخذت الأرض زخرفها وازينت " ( يونس - 24 ) .
( لنبلوهم ) لنختبرهم ( أيهم أحسن عملا ) أي : أصلح عملا . وقيل : أيهم أترك للدنيا .
Surely, I have made the creation on the face of this earth an adornment for it, so I can test them to see which of them does the best actions which please Allah and which of them is worst in actions, so that I may reward everyone with what they deserve.
