18 Al-Kahf(الكهف), Ayah 97

فَمَا اسْطَاعُوا أَنْ يَظْهَرُوهُ وَمَا اسْتَطَاعُوا لَهُ نَقْبًا

Fama istaAAoo an yathharoohu wama istataAAoo lahu naqban ⁽⁹⁷⁾

Tafsir

( فما اسطاعوا أن يظهروه ) أن يعلوه من فوقه لطوله وملاسته ( وما استطاعوا له نقبا ) من أسفله لشدته ولصلابته وقرأ حمزة : ( فما استطاعوا ) بتشديد الطاء أدغم تاء الافتعال في الطاء .

So Gog and Magog were unable to climb over it due to its height nor were they able to make a hole in it from beneath due to its hardness.
