فَأَتْبَعَهُمْ فِرْعَوْنُ بِجُنُودِهِ فَغَشِيَهُمْ مِنَ الْيَمِّ مَا غَشِيَهُمْ
FaatbaAAahum firAAawnu bijunoodihi faghashiyahum mina alyammi ma ghashiyahum (78)
( فأتبعهم ) فلحقهم ، ( فرعون بجنوده ) وقيل : معناه أمر فرعون جنوده أن يتبعوا موسى وقومه ، والباء فيه زائدة وكان هو فيهم ، ( فغشيهم ) أصابهم ، ( من اليم ما غشيهم ) وهو الغرق . [ وقيل : غشيهم علاهم وسترهم بعض ماء اليم لا كله ] .
وقيل : غشيهم من اليم ما غشيهم قوم موسى فغرقوا هم ، ونجا موسى وقومه .
Then Pharoah, accompanied by his armies, followed them. Then he and his armies were engulfed by part of the sea, the reality of which only Allah knows. They all drowned and perished, whilst Moses and those with him were saved.
