قَالَ يَا ابْنَ أُمَّ لَا تَأْخُذْ بِلِحْيَتِي وَلَا بِرَأْسِي ۖ إِنِّي خَشِيتُ أَنْ تَقُولَ فَرَّقْتَ بَيْنَ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ وَلَمْ تَرْقُبْ قَوْلِي
Qala ya bna omma la takhuth bilihyatee wala birasee innee khasheetu an taqoola farraqta bayna banee israeela walam tarqub qawlee (94)
( قال ياابن أم لا تأخذ بلحيتي ولا برأسي ) أي بشعر رأسي وكان قد أخذ ذوائبه ، ( إني خشيت ) لو أنكرت عليهم لصاروا حزبين يقتل بعضهم بعضا ، ( أن تقول فرقت بين بني إسرائيل ) أي : خشيت إن فارقتهم واتبعتك صاروا أحزابا يتقاتلون ، فتقول أنت فرقت بين بني إسرائيل ( ولم ترقب قولي ) ولم تحفظ وصيتي حين قلت لك اخلفني في قومي ، وأصلح أي ارفق بهم ، ثم أقبل موسى على السامري
When Moses took his brother by his beard and head, dragging him and scolding him for what he did, Aaron said to him, seeking his compassion: “Do not hold my beard and the hair on my head, for I have a reason for staying with them. I feared if I leave them alone they will disperse, then you will say I split them apart and that I did not maintain your bequest regarding them”.
