مَا يَأْتِيهِمْ مِنْ ذِكْرٍ مِنْ رَبِّهِمْ مُحْدَثٍ إِلَّا اسْتَمَعُوهُ وَهُمْ يَلْعَبُونَ
Ma yateehim min thikrin min rabbihim muhdathin illa istamaAAoohu wahum yalAAaboona (2)
( ما يأتيهم من ذكر من ربهم محدث ) يعني ما يحدث الله من تنزيل شيء من القرآن يذكرهم ويعظهم به .
قال مقاتل : يحدث الله الأمر [ بعد الأمر ] قيل : الذكر المحدث ما قاله النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم وبينه من السنن والمواعظ سوى ما في القرآن ، وأضافه إلى الرب عز وجل لأنه قال بأمر الرب ، ( إلا استمعوه وهم يلعبون ) أي : استمعوه لاعبين لا يعتبرون ولا يتعظون .
And no part of the Qur’ān which is newly revealed comes to them except that they listen to it without benefiting, but rather playful listening, without caring about its contents.
