وَكُلًّا ضَرَبْنَا لَهُ الْأَمْثَالَ ۖ وَكُلًّا تَبَّرْنَا تَتْبِيرًا
Wakullan darabna lahu alamthala wakullan tabbarna tatbeeran (39)
( وكلا ضربنا له الأمثال ) أي : الأشباه في إقامة الحجة عليهم ، فلم نهلكهم إلا بعد الإنذار ) ( وكلا تبرنا تتبيرا ) أي : أهلكنا إهلاكا . وقال الأخفش : كسرنا تكسيرا . قال الزجاج : كل شيء كسرته وفتته فقد تبرته .
To each of these who were destroyed I had described the destruction of the previous communities and the reasons for it so that they take heed, and each of them I completely destroyed because of their disbelief and stubbornness.
