وَإِذَا يُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِمْ قَالُوا آمَنَّا بِهِ إِنَّهُ الْحَقُّ مِنْ رَبِّنَا إِنَّا كُنَّا مِنْ قَبْلِهِ مُسْلِمِينَ
Waitha yutla AAalayhim qaloo amanna bihi innahu alhaqqu min rabbina inna kunna min qablihi muslimeena (53)
( وإذا يتلى عليهم ) يعني القرآن ، ( قالوا آمنا به إنه الحق من ربنا ) وذلك أن ذكر النبي - صلى الله عليه وسلم - كان مكتوبا عندهم في التوراة والإنجيل ، ( إنا كنا من قبله مسلمين ) أي : من قبل القرآن مسلمين مخلصين لله بالتوحيد مؤمنين بمحمد - صلى الله عليه وسلم - أنه نبي حق .
When it is recited to them they say: “We believe it is the truth in which there is no doubt and which is revealed from our Lord. We were Muslims before this Qur’ān was revealed, due to our faith in what the Messengers before him brought”.
