وَنُرِيدُ أَنْ نَمُنَّ عَلَى الَّذِينَ اسْتُضْعِفُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ وَنَجْعَلَهُمْ أَئِمَّةً وَنَجْعَلَهُمُ الْوَارِثِينَ
Wanureedu an namunna AAala allatheena istudAAifoo fee alardi wanajAAalahum aimmatan wanajAAalahumu alwaritheena (5)
( ونريد أن نمن على الذين استضعفوا في الأرض ) يعني : بني إسرائيل ، ( ونجعلهم أئمة ) قادة في الخير يقتدى بهم . وقال قتادة : ولاة وملوكا ، دليله : قوله - عز وجل - : " وجعلكم ملوكا " ( المائدة - 20 ) . وقال مجاهد : دعاة إلى الخير . ( ونجعلهم الوارثين ) يعني : أملاك فرعون وقومه يخلفونهم في مساكنهم .
And I wanted to bestow a favour upon the Israelites who had been oppressed by the Pharaoh in Egypt, by destroying their enemy, liberating them from the oppression, making them leaders, to be followed by those who seek the truth, and making them inheritors of Pharaoh’s kingdom in Egypt after I drowned him and his armies.
