وَإِنْ جَاهَدَاكَ عَلَىٰ أَنْ تُشْرِكَ بِي مَا لَيْسَ لَكَ بِهِ عِلْمٌ فَلَا تُطِعْهُمَا ۖ وَصَاحِبْهُمَا فِي الدُّنْيَا مَعْرُوفًا ۖ وَاتَّبِعْ سَبِيلَ مَنْ أَنَابَ إِلَيَّ ۚ ثُمَّ إِلَيَّ مَرْجِعُكُمْ فَأُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
Wain jahadaka AAala an tushrika bee ma laysa laka bihi AAilmun fala tutiAAhuma wasahibhuma fee alddunya maAAroofan waittabiAA sabeela man anaba ilayya thumma ilayya marjiAAukum faonabbiokum bima kuntum taAAmaloona (15)
( وإن جاهداك على أن تشرك بي ما ليس لك به علم فلا تطعهما وصاحبهما في الدنيا معروفا ) أي : بالمعروف ، وهو البر والصلة والعشرة الجميلة ( واتبع سبيل من أناب إلي ) أي : دين من أقبل إلى طاعتي ، وهو النبي - صلى الله عليه وسلم - وأصحابه . قال عطاء عن ابن عباس : يريد أبا بكر ، وذلك أنه حين أسلم أتاه عثمان ، وطلحة ، والزبير ، وسعد بن أبي وقاص ، وعبد الرحمن بن عوف ، فقالوا له : قد صدقت هذا الرجل وآمنت به ؟ قال : نعم ، هو صادق ، فآمنوا به ، ثم حملهم إلى النبي - صلى الله عليه وسلم - حتى أسلموا ، فهؤلاء لهم سابقة الإسلام . أسلموا بإرشاد أبي بكر . قال الله تعالى : ( واتبع سبيل من أناب إلي ) يعني أبا بكر ، ( ثم إلي مرجعكم فأنبئكم بما كنتم تعملون ) وقيل : نزلت هاتان الآيتان في سعد بن أبي وقاص وأمه ، وقد مضت القصة وقيل : الآية عامة في حق كافة الناس .
And even if your parents strive to incite you upon ascribing partners to Allah according to their ignorant/arbitrary understanding - like what the mother of Sa‘d bin Abī Waqqāṣ did to him - then do not obey them in that, because there is no obedience to the creation in the disobedience to the Creator. Rather, live with them in the world with goodness, maintaining ties and friendship. And follow the path of those who proclaim My oneness repeatedly and obey Me; to Me alone is your return on the Day of Judgment so that I may tell you of the actions you used to do in the world and requite you for them.
