قُلْ إِنْ ضَلَلْتُ فَإِنَّمَا أَضِلُّ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِي ۖ وَإِنِ اهْتَدَيْتُ فَبِمَا يُوحِي إِلَيَّ رَبِّي ۚ إِنَّهُ سَمِيعٌ قَرِيبٌ
Qul in dalaltu fainnama adillu AAala nafsee waini ihtadaytu fabima yoohee ilayya rabbee innahu sameeAAun qareebun (50)
( قل إن ضللت فإنما أضل على نفسي ) وذلك أن كفار مكة كانوا يقولون له : إنك قد ضللت حين تركت دين آبائك ، فقال الله تعالى : ( قل إن ضللت فإنما أضل على نفسي ) أي : إثم ضلالتي على نفسي ( وإن اهتديت فبما يوحي إلي ربي ) من القرآن والحكمة ( إنه سميع قريب )
O Messenger! Say to these idolaters who reject: “If I go astray from the truth in what I convey to you, the harm of my misguidance is confined to me. None of it will affect you. And if I am guided to Him, it is due to what my Lord reveals to me. He is Hearing of the sayings of His servants and Near, it not being difficult for Him to hear what I say”.
