قَالُوا طَائِرُكُمْ مَعَكُمْ ۚ أَئِنْ ذُكِّرْتُمْ ۚ بَلْ أَنْتُمْ قَوْمٌ مُسْرِفُونَ
Qaloo tairukum maAAakum ain thukkirtum bal antum qawmun musrifoona (19)
( قالوا طائركم معكم ) يعني : شؤمكم معكم بكفركم وتكذيبكم يعني : أصابكم الشؤم من قبلكم . وقال ابن عباس والضحاك : حظكم من الخير والشر ( أئن ذكرتم ) يعني : وعظتم بالله ، وهذا استفهام محذوف الجواب مجازه : إن ذكرتم ووعظتم بالله تطيرتم بنا . وقرأ أبو جعفر : " أن " بفتح الهمزة الملينة " ذكرتم " بالتخفيف ( بل أنتم قوم مسرفون ) مشركون مجاوزون الحد .
The messengers said in response to them: Your evil omen is within yourselves on account of your denial of Allah and your leaving out following His messengers. Do you see an evil omen if we reminded you of Allah! In fact, you are a people who have gone too far in the perpetration of disbelief and sins.
