أَأَتَّخِذُ مِنْ دُونِهِ آلِهَةً إِنْ يُرِدْنِ الرَّحْمَٰنُ بِضُرٍّ لَا تُغْنِ عَنِّي شَفَاعَتُهُمْ شَيْئًا وَلَا يُنْقِذُونِ
Aattakhithu min doonihi alihatan in yuridni alrrahmanu bidurrin la tughni AAannee shafaAAatuhum shayan wala yunqithooni (23)
( أأتخذ من دونه آلهة ) استفهام بمعنى الإنكار ، أي : لا أتخذ من دونه آلهة ، ( إن يردن الرحمن بضر ) بسوء ومكروه ، ( لا تغن عني ) لا تدفع عني ، ( شفاعتهم شيئا ) أي : لا شفاعة لها أصلا فتغني ) ( ولا ينقذون ) من ذلك المكروه . وقيل : لا ينقذون من العذاب لو عذبني الله إن فعلت ذلك .
Shall I take other deities to be wrongly worshipped instead of Allah Who created me? If the Merciful intends harm for me, the intercession of these other deities will not avail me at all, nor will they be able to save me from the harm that Allah intended for me if I die as a disbeliever.
