لِيَأْكُلُوا مِنْ ثَمَرِهِ وَمَا عَمِلَتْهُ أَيْدِيهِمْ ۖ أَفَلَا يَشْكُرُونَ
Liyakuloo min thamarihi wama AAamilathu aydeehim afala yashkuroona (35)
( ليأكلوا من ثمره ) أي : من الثمر الحاصل بالماء ( وما عملته ) قرأ حمزة والكسائي وأبو بكر : " عملت " بغير هاء ، وقرأ الآخرون " عملته " بالهاء أي : يأكلون من الذي عملته ) ( أيديهم ) الزرع والغرس فالهاء عائدة إلى " ما " التي بمعنى الذي . وقيل : " ما " للنفي في قوله " ما عملته " أي : وجدوها معمولة ولم تعملها أيديهم ولا صنع لهم فيها ، وهذا معنى قول الضحاك ومقاتل .
وقيل : أراد العيون والأنهار التي لم تعملها يد خلق مثل دجلة والفرات والنيل ونحوها .
) ( أفلا يشكرون ) نعمة الله .
So that people can eat of the fruits of those gardens that Allah has blessed them with and for which they did not make any effort. Do they not thank Allah, Who gave them all of that out of His bounty and mercy for them, by worshipping Him alone and having faith in His messengers?!
