مَا سَمِعْنَا بِهَٰذَا فِي الْمِلَّةِ الْآخِرَةِ إِنْ هَٰذَا إِلَّا اخْتِلَاقٌ
Ma samiAAna bihatha fee almillati alakhirati in hatha illa ikhtilaqun (7)
( ما سمعنا بهذا ) أي بهذا الذي يقوله محمد من التوحيد ( في الملة الآخرة ) قال ابن عباس - رضي الله عنهما - والكلبي ، ومقاتل : يعنون النصرانية ؛ لأنها آخر الملل وهم لا يوحدون ، بل يقولون : ثالث ثلاثة .
وقال مجاهد وقتادة : يعنون ملة قريش ودينهم الذي هم عليه .
( إن هذا إلا اختلاق ) كذب وافتعال .
We have not heard the oneness of Allah which Muhammad is calling us towards in what we found our fathers on nor in the religion of Jesus (peace be upon him). What we have heard from him is nothing but a lie and fabrication.
