أَمِ اتَّخَذُوا مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ شُفَعَاءَ ۚ قُلْ أَوَلَوْ كَانُوا لَا يَمْلِكُونَ شَيْئًا وَلَا يَعْقِلُونَ
Ami ittakhathoo min dooni Allahi shufaAAaa qul awalaw kanoo la yamlikoona shayan wala yaAAqiloona (43)
( أم اتخذوا من دون الله شفعاء قل ) يا محمد ، ) ( أولو كانوا ) وإن كانوا يعني الآلهة ، ( لا يملكون شيئا ) من الشفاعة ، ) ( ولا يعقلون ) أنكم تعبدونهم . وجواب هذا محذوف تقديره : وإن كانوا بهذه الصفة تتخذونهم .
The idolaters took their idols as intercessors, having hope of benefit in them instead of Allah. Say to them, O Messenger: Do you take them as intercessors even though they have no power to do anything for you or for themselves and they do not have understanding? They are lifeless objects that cannot speak, hear, see, benefit or harm.
