فَبِمَا نَقْضِهِمْ مِيثَاقَهُمْ وَكُفْرِهِمْ بِآيَاتِ اللَّهِ وَقَتْلِهِمُ الْأَنْبِيَاءَ بِغَيْرِ حَقٍّ وَقَوْلِهِمْ قُلُوبُنَا غُلْفٌ ۚ بَلْ طَبَعَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهَا بِكُفْرِهِمْ فَلَا يُؤْمِنُونَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا
Fabima naqdihim meethaqahum wakufrihim biayati Allahi waqatlihimu alanbiyaa bighayri haqqin waqawlihim quloobuna ghulfun bal tabaAAa Allahu AAalayha bikufrihim fala yuminoona illa qaleelan (155)
قوله تعالى : ( فبما نقضهم ميثاقهم ) أي : فبنقضهم ، و " ما " صلة كقوله تعالى : " فبما رحمة من الله " ( آل عمران - 159 ) ، ونحوها ، ( وكفرهم بآيات الله وقتلهم الأنبياء بغير حق وقولهم قلوبنا غلف بل طبع الله عليها بكفرهم ) أي : ختم عليها ، ( فلا يؤمنون إلا قليلا ) يعني : ممن كذب الرسل لا ممن طبع على قلبه ، لأن من طبع الله على قلبه لا يؤمن أبدا ، وأراد بالقليل : عبد الله بن سلام وأصحابه ، وقيل : معناه لا يؤمنون قليلا ولا كثيرا .
I distanced them from My mercy because they broke the promise that was taken from them, disbelieved in Allah’s words, boldly killed the prophets and said to Muhammad (peace be upon him), 'Our hearts are covered, so we cannot understand what you say’ That is not the case. Instead, Allah has sealed their hearts so no good reaches them. They only have a little faith, which will not be of any use to them.
