وَلَقَدْ جَاءَكُمْ يُوسُفُ مِنْ قَبْلُ بِالْبَيِّنَاتِ فَمَا زِلْتُمْ فِي شَكٍّ مِمَّا جَاءَكُمْ بِهِ ۖ حَتَّىٰ إِذَا هَلَكَ قُلْتُمْ لَنْ يَبْعَثَ اللَّهُ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ رَسُولًا ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يُضِلُّ اللَّهُ مَنْ هُوَ مُسْرِفٌ مُرْتَابٌ
Walaqad jaakum yoosufu min qablu bialbayyinati fama ziltum fee shakkin mimma jaakum bihi hatta itha halaka qultum lan yabAAatha Allahu min baAAdihi rasoolan kathalika yudillu Allahu man huwa musrifun murtabun (34)
( ولقد جاءكم يوسف من قبل ) يعني يوسف بن يعقوب " من قبل " أي : من قبل موسى ، ) ( بالبينات ) يعني قوله : " أأرباب متفرقون خير أم الله الواحد القهار " ( يوسف - 39 ( فما زلتم في شك مما جاءكم به ) قال ابن عباس : من عبادة الله وحده لا شريك له ، ( حتى إذا هلك ) مات ( قلتم لن يبعث الله من بعده رسولا ) أي : أقمتم على كفركم وظننتم أن الله لا يجدد عليكم الحجة ، ( كذلك يضل الله من هو مسرف ) مشرك ، ) ( مرتاب ) شاك .
Joseph came to you before Moses with clear proof for the oneness of Allah, but you remained in doubt and denial of what he brought, until when he died you increased in doubt and uncertainty, and you said: “Allah will never send a messenger after him”. Just as you are misguided from the truth, Allah leads astray every person who trespasses the limits of Allah and doubts His oneness.
