وَالَّذِينَ يَجْتَنِبُونَ كَبَائِرَ الْإِثْمِ وَالْفَوَاحِشَ وَإِذَا مَا غَضِبُوا هُمْ يَغْفِرُونَ
Waallatheena yajtaniboona kabaira alithmi waalfawahisha waitha ma ghadiboo hum yaghfiroona (37)
( والذين يجتنبون كبائر الإثم ) قرأ حمزة والكسائي : " كبير الإثم " على الواحد هاهنا ، وفي سورة النجم ، وقرأ الآخرون : " كبائر " بالجمع ، وقد ذكرنا معنى الكبائر في سورة النساء ( والفواحش ) قال السدي : يعني الزنا . وقال مجاهد ومقاتل : ما يوجب الحد . ( وإذا ما غضبوا هم يغفرون ) يحلمون ويكظمون الغيظ ويتجاوزون .
Those who distance themselves from major and offensive sins and when they are angry at those who offend them by words or deeds they forgive their mistake and do not punish them for it. This pardon is a grace they offer when there is goodness and benefit in it.
