بَلْ مَتَّعْتُ هَٰؤُلَاءِ وَآبَاءَهُمْ حَتَّىٰ جَاءَهُمُ الْحَقُّ وَرَسُولٌ مُبِينٌ
Bal mattaAAtu haolai waabaahum hatta jaahumu alhaqqu warasoolun mubeenun (29)
( بل متعت هؤلاء وآباءهم ) يعني : المشركين في الدنيا ، ولم أعاجلهم بالعقوبة على الكفر ، ( حتى جاءهم الحق ) يعني : القرآن . وقال الضحاك : الإسلام . ( ورسول مبين ) يبين لهم الأحكام وهو محمد - صلى الله عليه وسلم - وكان من حق هذا الإنعام أن يطيعوه ، فلم يفعلوا ، وعصوا .
I did not hasten the destruction upon these rejecting idolaters. Rather, I let them enjoy remaining in the world and I let their forefathers do the same, until the Qur’ān and a clear Messenger: Muhammad (peace be upon him) came to them.
