وَمَا نُرِيهِمْ مِنْ آيَةٍ إِلَّا هِيَ أَكْبَرُ مِنْ أُخْتِهَا ۖ وَأَخَذْنَاهُمْ بِالْعَذَابِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ
Wama nureehim min ayatin illa hiya akbaru min okhtiha waakhathnahum bialAAathabi laAAallahum yarjiAAoona (48)
( وما نريهم من آية إلا هي أكبر من أختها ) قرينتها وصاحبتها التي كانت قبلها ( وأخذناهم بالعذاب ) بالسنين والطوفان والجراد والقمل والضفادع والدم والطمس ، فكانت هذه دلالات لموسى ، وعذابا لهم ، فكانت كل واحدة أكبر من التي قبلها ( لعلهم يرجعون ) عن كفرهم .
I showed Pharaoh and his leaders proof after proof to establish the authenticity of Moses’ message, each proof was greater in magnitude than the previous one. I seized them with the punishment in the world, in the hope that they turn away from the disbelief they were in, but to no avail.
