قَالُوا أَجِئْتَنَا لِتَأْفِكَنَا عَنْ آلِهَتِنَا فَأْتِنَا بِمَا تَعِدُنَا إِنْ كُنْتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ
Qaloo ajitana litafikana AAan alihatina fatina bima taAAiduna in kunta mina alssadiqeena (22)
( قالوا أجئتنا لتأفكنا ) [ لتصرفنا ] ( عن آلهتنا ) أي عن عبادتها ( فأتنا بما تعدنا ) [ من العذاب ] ( إن كنت من الصادقين ) أن العذاب نازل بنا .
His people said to him: “Have you come to us to turn us away from worshipping our gods? That will never happen for you, so bring us the punishment you promise us if you are true in what you claim”.
