أَمْ يَقُولُونَ افْتَرَاهُ ۖ قُلْ إِنِ افْتَرَيْتُهُ فَلَا تَمْلِكُونَ لِي مِنَ اللَّهِ شَيْئًا ۖ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا تُفِيضُونَ فِيهِ ۖ كَفَىٰ بِهِ شَهِيدًا بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكُمْ ۖ وَهُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ
Am yaqooloona iftarahu qul ini iftaraytuhu fala tamlikoona lee mina Allahi shayan huwa aAAlamu bima tufeedoona feehi kafa bihi shaheedan baynee wabaynakum wahuwa alghafooru alrraheemu (8)
( أم يقولون افتراه ) محمد من قبل نفسه ، فقال الله - عز وجل - : ( قل إن افتريته فلا تملكون لي من الله شيئا ) لا تقدرون أن تردوا عني عذابه إن عذبني على افترائي ، فكيف أفتري على الله من أجلكم ( هو أعلم بما تفيضون فيه ) تخوضون فيه من التكذيب بالقرآن والقول فيه إنه سحر . ( كفى به شهيدا بيني وبينكم ) أن القرآن جاء من عنده ( وهو الغفور الرحيم ) في تأخير العذاب عنكم ، قال الزجاج : هذا دعاء لهم إلى التوبة ، معناه : إن الله - عز وجل - غفور لمن تاب منكم رحيم به .
Do these idolaters say: “Muhammad has made up this Qur’ān and attributed it to Allah?” Say to them, O Messenger: “If I have made it up on my own part, you do not have power over any plan for me if Allah wants to punish me, so how can I put myself at risk of punishment by fabricating against Him? Allah knows better the criticism of His Qur’ān and slandering me you engage in. He, (may He be glorified), is sufficient as a witness between me and you. And He is Forgiving of the sins of His servants who repent to Him, Merciful to them”.
