إِنَّمَا الْحَيَاةُ الدُّنْيَا لَعِبٌ وَلَهْوٌ ۚ وَإِنْ تُؤْمِنُوا وَتَتَّقُوا يُؤْتِكُمْ أُجُورَكُمْ وَلَا يَسْأَلْكُمْ أَمْوَالَكُمْ
Innama alhayatu alddunya laAAibun walahwun wain tuminoo watattaqoo yutikum ojoorakum wala yasalkum amwalakum (36)
( إنما الحياة الدنيا لعب ولهو ) باطل وغرور ( وإن تؤمنوا وتتقوا ) الفواحش ، ( يؤتكم أجوركم ) جزاء أعمالكم في الآخرة ( ولا يسألكم ) ربكم ( أموالكم ) لإيتاء الأجر بل يأمركم بالإيمان والطاعة ليثيبكم عليها الجنة ، نظيره قوله : " ما أريد منهم من رزق " ( الذاريات - 57 ) ، وقيل : لا يسألكم محمد أموالكم ، نظيره : " قل ما أسألكم عليه من أجر " ( الفرقان - 57 ) .
وقيل : معنى الآية : لا يسألكم الله ورسوله أموالكم كلها في الصدقات ، إنما يسألانكم غيضا من فيض ، ربع العشر فطيبوا بها نفسا . وإلى هذا القول ذهب ابن عيينة ، يدل عليه سياق الآية :
The life of the world is only play and amusement. An intelligent person should not become occupied by it instead of working for his Hereafter. If you have faith in Allah and His messenger, and you are mindful of Allah by fulfilling His instructions and avoiding His prohibitions, He will give you the reward of your deeds in full without any reduction, and He will not ask you for all of your wealth. He will only ask you for the Zakat.
