إِنَّا كُنَّا مِنْ قَبْلُ نَدْعُوهُ ۖ إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْبَرُّ الرَّحِيمُ
Inna kunna min qablu nadAAoohu innahu huwa albarru alrraheemu (28)
( إنا كنا من قبل ) في الدنيا ( ندعوه ) نخلص له العبادة ( إنه ) قرأ أهل المدينة [ والكسائي ] " أنه " بفتح الألف ، أي : لأنه أو بأنه ، وقرأ الآخرون بالكسر على الاستئناف ( هو البر ) قال ابن عباس : اللطيف . وقال الضحاك : الصادق فيما وعد ( الرحيم ) .
We used to worship Him in our worldly life and we used to pray to Him to protect us from the fire of hell. He is Beneficent to His servants and Merciful to them. Part of His beneficence and mercy upon us is that He guided us to faith, entered us into Paradise and distanced us from the fire.”
