وَإِنَّ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا عَذَابًا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
Wainna lillatheena thalamoo AAathaban doona thalika walakinna aktharahum la yaAAlamoona (47)
( وإن للذين ظلموا ) [ كفروا ] ( عذابا دون ذلك ) أي : عذابا في الدنيا قبل عذاب الآخرة . قال ابن عباس : يعني القتل يوم بدر ، وقال الضحاك : هو الجوع والقحط سبع سنين . وقال البراء بن عازب : هو عذاب القبر . ( ولكن أكثرهم لا يعلمون ) أن العذاب نازل بهم .
And for those who wronged themselves through idolatry and sins is a punishment before the punishment of the afterlife: in this life through being killed and imprisoned, and in the Transitory Stage through punishment of the grave. However, most of them do not know that, which is why they remain on their disbelief.
