إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حَاصِبًا إِلَّا آلَ لُوطٍ ۖ نَجَّيْنَاهُمْ بِسَحَرٍ
Inna arsalna AAalayhim hasiban illa ala lootin najjaynahum bisaharin (34)
( إنا أرسلنا عليهم حاصبا ) ريحا ترميهم بالحصباء ، وهي الحصى وقال الضحاك : يعني صغار الحصى . وقيل : " الحصباء " هي الحجر الذي دون ملء الكف ، وقد يكون الحاصب الرامي فيكون المعنى على هذا : أرسلنا عليهم عذابا يحصبهم أي : يرميهم بالحجارة ، ثم استثنى فقال : ( إلا آل لوط ) يعني لوطا وابنتيه ( نجيناهم ) من العذاب ( بسحر ) .
I sent on them a wind that threw stones on them except the family of Lot (peace be upon him). The punishment did not afflict them, as I had rescued them from it as he had travelled away with them before the punishment came down in the last part of the night.
