وَلَوْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ مَا أَشْرَكُوا ۗ وَمَا جَعَلْنَاكَ عَلَيْهِمْ حَفِيظًا ۖ وَمَا أَنْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِوَكِيلٍ
Walaw shaa Allahu ma ashrakoo wama jaAAalnaka AAalayhim hafeethan wama anta AAalayhim biwakeelin (107)
( ولو شاء الله ما أشركوا ) أي : لو شاء لجعلهم مؤمنين ، ( وما جعلناك عليهم حفيظا ) رقيبا قال عطاء : وما جعلناك عليهم حفيظا تمنعهم مني ، أي : لم تبعث لتحفظ المشركين عن العذاب إنما بعثت مبلغا . ( وما أنت عليهم بوكيل )
If Allah willed for them not to associate any one as partner with Him, they would not have done so. I have not made you, O Messenger, a guardian to record their actions, nor are you in charge of them. You are only a messenger and your duty is only to convey the message.
