قُلْ أَرَأَيْتُمْ إِنْ أَهْلَكَنِيَ اللَّهُ وَمَنْ مَعِيَ أَوْ رَحِمَنَا فَمَنْ يُجِيرُ الْكَافِرِينَ مِنْ عَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ
Qul araaytum in ahlakaniya Allahu waman maAAiya aw rahimana faman yujeeru alkafireena min AAathabin aleemin (28)
( قل ) يا محمد لمشركي مكة الذين يتمنون [ هلاكك ] ( أرأيتم إن أهلكني الله ومن معي ) من المؤمنين ( أو رحمنا ) فأبقانا وأخر آجالنا ( فمن يجير الكافرين من عذاب أليم ) فإنه واقع بهم لا محالة . وقيل : معناه أرأيتم إن أهلكني الله فعذبني ومن معي أو رحمنا فغفر لنا فنحن - مع إيماننا - خائفون أن يهلكنا بذنوبنا لأن حكمه نافذ فينا فمن يجيركم ويمنعكم من عذابه وأنتم كافرون ؟ وهذا معنى قول ابن عباس .
O Messenger! Say to these rejecting idolaters, reprimanding them: “Tell me, if Allah was to case death to me and to those with me i.e. the believers, who will save the disbelievers from a painful punishment?” No one will ever save them from it.
