لَهُمْ مِنْ جَهَنَّمَ مِهَادٌ وَمِنْ فَوْقِهِمْ غَوَاشٍ ۚ وَكَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي الظَّالِمِينَ
Lahum min jahannama mihadun wamin fawqihim ghawashin wakathalika najzee alththalimeena (41)
( لهم من جهنم مهاد ) أي : فراش ، ( ومن فوقهم غواش ) أي : لحف ، وهي جمع غاشية ، يعني ما غشاهم وغطاهم ، يريد إحاطة النار بهم من كل جانب ، كما قال الله ، " لهم من فوقهم ظلل من النار ومن تحتهم ظلل " ( الزمر ، 16 ) ، ( وكذلك نجزي المجرمين )
For these people who rejected the truth, because they were too proud, is a bed of Hell to lie on, and above them is a covering of torment. This is the way in which Allah rewards those who overstep His limits through their disbelief in Him, and through their turning away from Him.
