أَلَا تُقَاتِلُونَ قَوْمًا نَكَثُوا أَيْمَانَهُمْ وَهَمُّوا بِإِخْرَاجِ الرَّسُولِ وَهُمْ بَدَءُوكُمْ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ ۚ أَتَخْشَوْنَهُمْ ۚ فَاللَّهُ أَحَقُّ أَنْ تَخْشَوْهُ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُؤْمِنِينَ
Ala tuqatiloona qawman nakathoo aymanahum wahammoo biikhraji alrrasooli wahum badaookum awwala marratin atakhshawnahum faAllahu ahaqqu an takhshawhu in kuntum mumineena (13)
ثم حض المسلمين على القتال ، فقال جل ذكره : ( ألا تقاتلون قوما نكثوا أيمانهم ) نقضوا عهودهم ، وهم الذين نقضوا عهد الصلح بالحديبية وأعانوا بني بكر على قتال خزاعة . ( وهموا بإخراج الرسول ) من مكة حين اجتمعوا في دار الندوة ، ( وهم بدءوكم ) بالقتال ، ( أول مرة ) يعني : يوم بدر ، وذلك أنهم قالوا حين سلم العير : لا ننصرف حتى نستأصل محمدا وأصحابه .
وقال جماعة من المفسرين : أراد أنهم بدؤوا بقتال خزاعة حلفاء رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم .
( أتخشونهم ) أتخافونهم فتتركون قتالهم؟ ( فالله أحق أن تخشوه ) في ترك قتالهم ، ( إن كنتم مؤمنين ) .
Why do you, O believers, not fight a people who have broken their treaties and promises and who have attempted, in their meeting at Dār Al-Nadwah, to expel the Messenger (peace be upon him) from Makkah? They started the fight against you in the first place when they assisted the Children of Bakr, who were the allies of the Quraysh, against the Children of Khuzā‘ah, who were the allies of the Messenger (peace be upon him). Is it because you are afraid of them that you do not go forward to fight them? It is Allah, may He be glorified, that you should fear, if you are truly believers.
