Surah Ar-Rahman (The Most Merciful) سُورَة الرحمن

Surah Ar-Rahman is the 55th chapter of the Quran, consisting of 78 verses. It is a beautiful reminder of Allah's countless blessings and His mercy. Below are the verses of this Surah.

Surah Ar-Rahman (The Most Merciful) — سُورَةُ الرحمن

Also known as: ʿArūs al-Qurʾān (The Bride of the Qur'an)

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

الرَّحْمَٰنُ i

55:1

The Most Merciful ⁽¹⁾

عَلَّمَ الْقُرْآنَ i

55:2

Taught the Qur'an, ⁽²⁾

خَلَقَ الْإِنْسَانَ i

55:3

Created man, ⁽³⁾

عَلَّمَهُ الْبَيَانَ i

55:4

[And] taught him eloquence. ⁽⁴⁾

الشَّمْسُ وَالْقَمَرُ بِحُسْبَانٍ i

55:5

The sun and the moon [move] by precise calculation, ⁽⁵⁾

وَالنَّجْمُ وَالشَّجَرُ يَسْجُدَانِ i

55:6

And the stars and trees prostrate. ⁽⁶⁾

وَالسَّمَاءَ رَفَعَهَا وَوَضَعَ الْمِيزَانَ i

55:7

And the heaven He raised and imposed the balance ⁽⁷⁾

أَلَّا تَطْغَوْا فِي الْمِيزَانِ i

55:8

That you not transgress within the balance. ⁽⁸⁾

وَأَقِيمُوا الْوَزْنَ بِالْقِسْطِ وَلَا تُخْسِرُوا الْمِيزَانَ i

55:9

And establish weight in justice and do not make deficient the balance. ⁽⁹⁾

وَالْأَرْضَ وَضَعَهَا لِلْأَنَامِ i

55:10

And the earth He laid [out] for the creatures. ⁽¹⁰⁾

فِيهَا فَاكِهَةٌ وَالنَّخْلُ ذَاتُ الْأَكْمَامِ i

55:11

Therein is fruit and palm trees having sheaths [of dates] ⁽¹¹⁾

وَالْحَبُّ ذُو الْعَصْفِ وَالرَّيْحَانُ i

55:12

And grain having husks and scented plants. ⁽¹²⁾

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ i

55:13

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? ⁽¹³⁾

خَلَقَ الْإِنْسَانَ مِنْ صَلْصَالٍ كَالْفَخَّارِ i

55:14

He created man from clay like [that of] pottery. ⁽¹⁴⁾

وَخَلَقَ الْجَانَّ مِنْ مَارِجٍ مِنْ نَارٍ i

55:15

And He created the jinn from a smokeless flame of fire. ⁽¹⁵⁾

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ i

55:16

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? ⁽¹⁶⁾

رَبُّ الْمَشْرِقَيْنِ وَرَبُّ الْمَغْرِبَيْنِ i

55:17

[He is] Lord of the two sunrises and Lord of the two sunsets. ⁽¹⁷⁾

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ i

55:18

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? ⁽¹⁸⁾

مَرَجَ الْبَحْرَيْنِ يَلْتَقِيَانِ i

55:19

He released the two seas, meeting [side by side]; ⁽¹⁹⁾

بَيْنَهُمَا بَرْزَخٌ لَا يَبْغِيَانِ i

55:20

Between them is a barrier [so] neither of them transgresses. ⁽²⁰⁾

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ i

55:21

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? ⁽²¹⁾

يَخْرُجُ مِنْهُمَا اللُّؤْلُؤُ وَالْمَرْجَانُ i

55:22

From both of them emerge pearl and coral. ⁽²²⁾

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ i

55:23

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? ⁽²³⁾

وَلَهُ الْجَوَارِ الْمُنْشَآتُ فِي الْبَحْرِ كَالْأَعْلَامِ i

55:24

And to Him belong the ships [with sails] elevated in the sea like mountains. ⁽²⁴⁾

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ i

55:25

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? ⁽²⁵⁾

كُلُّ مَنْ عَلَيْهَا فَانٍ i

55:26

Everyone upon the earth will perish, ⁽²⁶⁾

وَيَبْقَىٰ وَجْهُ رَبِّكَ ذُو الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ i

55:27

And there will remain the Face of your Lord, Owner of Majesty and Honor. ⁽²⁷⁾

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ i

55:28

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? ⁽²⁸⁾

يَسْأَلُهُ مَنْ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۚ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ هُوَ فِي شَأْنٍ i

55:29

Whoever is within the heavens and earth asks Him; every day He is bringing about a matter. ⁽²⁹⁾

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ i

55:30

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? ⁽³⁰⁾

سَنَفْرُغُ لَكُمْ أَيُّهَ الثَّقَلَانِ i

55:31

We will attend to you, O prominent beings. ⁽³¹⁾

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ i

55:32

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? ⁽³²⁾

يَا مَعْشَرَ الْجِنِّ وَالْإِنْسِ إِنِ اسْتَطَعْتُمْ أَنْ تَنْفُذُوا مِنْ أَقْطَارِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ فَانْفُذُوا ۚ لَا تَنْفُذُونَ إِلَّا بِسُلْطَانٍ i

55:33

O company of jinn and mankind, if you are able to pass beyond the regions of the heavens and the earth, then pass. You will not pass except by authority [from Allah]. ⁽³³⁾

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ i

55:34

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? ⁽³⁴⁾

يُرْسَلُ عَلَيْكُمَا شُوَاظٌ مِنْ نَارٍ وَنُحَاسٌ فَلَا تَنْتَصِرَانِ i

55:35

There will be sent upon you a flame of fire and smoke, and you will not defend yourselves. ⁽³⁵⁾

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ i

55:36

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? ⁽³⁶⁾

فَإِذَا انْشَقَّتِ السَّمَاءُ فَكَانَتْ وَرْدَةً كَالدِّهَانِ i

55:37

And when the heaven is split open and becomes rose-colored like oil - ⁽³⁷⁾

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ i

55:38

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? - ⁽³⁸⁾

فَيَوْمَئِذٍ لَا يُسْأَلُ عَنْ ذَنْبِهِ إِنْسٌ وَلَا جَانٌّ i

55:39

Then on that Day none will be asked about his sin among men or jinn. ⁽³⁹⁾

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ i

55:40

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? ⁽⁴⁰⁾

يُعْرَفُ الْمُجْرِمُونَ بِسِيمَاهُمْ فَيُؤْخَذُ بِالنَّوَاصِي وَالْأَقْدَامِ i

55:41

The criminals will be known by their marks, and they will be seized by the forelocks and the feet. ⁽⁴¹⁾

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ i

55:42

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? ⁽⁴²⁾

هَٰذِهِ جَهَنَّمُ الَّتِي يُكَذِّبُ بِهَا الْمُجْرِمُونَ i

55:43

This is Hell, which the criminals deny. ⁽⁴³⁾

يَطُوفُونَ بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَ حَمِيمٍ آنٍ i

55:44

They will go around between it and scalding water, heated [to the utmost degree]. ⁽⁴⁴⁾

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ i

55:45

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? ⁽⁴⁵⁾

وَلِمَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِ جَنَّتَانِ i

55:46

But for he who has feared the position of his Lord are two gardens - ⁽⁴⁶⁾

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ i

55:47

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? - ⁽⁴⁷⁾

ذَوَاتَا أَفْنَانٍ i

55:48

Having [spreading] branches. ⁽⁴⁸⁾

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ i

55:49

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? ⁽⁴⁹⁾

فِيهِمَا عَيْنَانِ تَجْرِيَانِ i

55:50

In both of them are two springs, flowing. ⁽⁵⁰⁾

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ i

55:51

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? ⁽⁵¹⁾

فِيهِمَا مِنْ كُلِّ فَاكِهَةٍ زَوْجَانِ i

55:52

In both of them are of every fruit, two kinds. ⁽⁵²⁾

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ i

55:53

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? ⁽⁵³⁾

مُتَّكِئِينَ عَلَىٰ فُرُشٍ بَطَائِنُهَا مِنْ إِسْتَبْرَقٍ ۚ وَجَنَى الْجَنَّتَيْنِ دَانٍ i

55:54

[They are] reclining on beds whose linings are of silk brocade, and the fruit of the two gardens is hanging low. ⁽⁵⁴⁾

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ i

55:55

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? ⁽⁵⁵⁾

فِيهِنَّ قَاصِرَاتُ الطَّرْفِ لَمْ يَطْمِثْهُنَّ إِنْسٌ قَبْلَهُمْ وَلَا جَانٌّ i

55:56

In them are women limiting [their] glances, untouched before them by man or jinni - ⁽⁵⁶⁾

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ i

55:57

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? - ⁽⁵⁷⁾

كَأَنَّهُنَّ الْيَاقُوتُ وَالْمَرْجَانُ i

55:58

As if they were rubies and coral. ⁽⁵⁸⁾

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ i

55:59

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? ⁽⁵⁹⁾

هَلْ جَزَاءُ الْإِحْسَانِ إِلَّا الْإِحْسَانُ i

55:60

Is the reward for good [anything] but good? ⁽⁶⁰⁾

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ i

55:61

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? ⁽⁶¹⁾

وَمِنْ دُونِهِمَا جَنَّتَانِ i

55:62

And below them both [in excellence] are two [other] gardens - ⁽⁶²⁾

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ i

55:63

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? - ⁽⁶³⁾

مُدْهَامَّتَانِ i

55:64

Dark green [in color]. ⁽⁶⁴⁾

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ i

55:65

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? ⁽⁶⁵⁾

فِيهِمَا عَيْنَانِ نَضَّاخَتَانِ i

55:66

In both of them are two springs, spouting. ⁽⁶⁶⁾

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ i

55:67

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? ⁽⁶⁷⁾

فِيهِمَا فَاكِهَةٌ وَنَخْلٌ وَرُمَّانٌ i

55:68

In both of them are fruit and palm trees and pomegranates. ⁽⁶⁸⁾

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ i

55:69

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? ⁽⁶⁹⁾

فِيهِنَّ خَيْرَاتٌ حِسَانٌ i

55:70

In them are good and beautiful women - ⁽⁷⁰⁾

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ i

55:71

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? - ⁽⁷¹⁾

حُورٌ مَقْصُورَاتٌ فِي الْخِيَامِ i

55:72

Fair ones reserved in pavilions - ⁽⁷²⁾

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ i

55:73

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? - ⁽⁷³⁾

لَمْ يَطْمِثْهُنَّ إِنْسٌ قَبْلَهُمْ وَلَا جَانٌّ i

55:74

Untouched before them by man or jinni - ⁽⁷⁴⁾

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ i

55:75

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? - ⁽⁷⁵⁾

مُتَّكِئِينَ عَلَىٰ رَفْرَفٍ خُضْرٍ وَعَبْقَرِيٍّ حِسَانٍ i

55:76

Reclining on green cushions and beautiful fine carpets. ⁽⁷⁶⁾

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ i

55:77

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? ⁽⁷⁷⁾

تَبَارَكَ اسْمُ رَبِّكَ ذِي الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ i

55:78

Blessed is the name of your Lord, Owner of Majesty and Honor. ⁽⁷⁸⁾
