Surah Al-Alaq (The Clot) سُورَة العلق

Surah Al-Alaq is the 96th chapter of the Quran, consisting of 19 verses. It discusses the initial revelation to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the importance of knowledge. Below are the verses of this Surah.

Surah Al-'Alaq (The Clot) — سُورَةُ العلق

Also known as: Iqraʾ Bismi Rabbika (Read in the Name of Your Lord), Iqraʾ (Read), al-Qalam (The Pen)

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ ۞

i

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

اقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ ١ i

96:1

Recite in the name of your Lord who created - (1)

أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ ١٣ i

96:13

Have you seen if he denies and turns away - (13)

كَلَّا لَئِنْ لَمْ يَنْتَهِ لَنَسْفَعًا بِالنَّاصِيَةِ ١٥ i

96:15

No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - (15)

كَلَّا لَا تُطِعْهُ وَاسْجُدْ وَاقْتَرِبْ ۩ ١٩ i

96:19

No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. (19)
