An-Nisa • Ayah 73 of 176 • English

Translation:
But if bounty comes to you from Allah, he will surely say, as if there had never been between you and him any affection. "Oh, I wish I had been with them so I could have attained a great attainment." An-Nisa 4:73
Tafsir:
Tafsir excerpt from An-Nisa 4:72

(2) Seen outwardly, the words of the Verse An-Nisa 4:72 (... وَإِنَّ مِنكُمْ ) seem to suggest that this too is addressed to the believers, although the characteristics described later on cannot be taken to be those of the believers. Therefore, al-Qurtubi says that they signify hypocrites. Since, they were the ones who used to claim being Muslims, at least outwardly. This is why they have been identified as a group from among the believers.
