Surah Al-Humazah (The Slanderer) سُورَة الهمزة

Surah Al-Humazah is the 104th chapter of the Quran, consisting of 9 verses. It warns against slander, gossip, and the harmful behavior of those who hoard wealth and slander others. Below are the verses of this Surah.

Also known as: al-Ḥuṭamah (The Crusher), Wayl li Kull Humazah (Woe to Every Slanderer)

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ ۞

i

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

وَيْلٌ لِكُلِّ هُمَزَةٍ لُمَزَةٍ ١ i

104:1

Woe to every (kind of) scandal-monger and-backbiter, (1)

يَحْسَبُ أَنَّ مَالَهُ أَخْلَدَهُ ٣ i

104:3

Thinking that his wealth would make him last for ever! (3)

كَلَّا ۖ لَيُنْبَذَنَّ فِي الْحُطَمَةِ ٤ i

104:4

By no means! He will be sure to be thrown into That which Breaks to Pieces, (4)

وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الْحُطَمَةُ ٥ i

104:5

And what will explain to thee That which Breaks to Pieces? (5)

الَّتِي تَطَّلِعُ عَلَى الْأَفْئِدَةِ ٧ i

104:7

The which doth mount (Right) to the Hearts: (7)
