Surah Al-Zalzalah (The Earthquake) سُورَة الزلزلة

Surah Al-Zalzalah is the 99th chapter of the Quran, consisting of 8 verses. It describes the powerful shaking of the earth during the Day of Judgment and the resulting consequences for human deeds. Below are the verses of this Surah.

Translation: Surah Az-Zalzalah (The Earthquake) سُورَة الزلزلة

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

i

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

إِذَا زُلْزِلَتِ الْأَرْضُ زِلْزَالَهَا ١ i

When the earth is shaken to her (utmost) convulsion, (1)

وَأَخْرَجَتِ الْأَرْضُ أَثْقَالَهَا ٢ i

And the earth throws up her burdens (from within), (2)

وَقَالَ الْإِنْسَانُ مَا لَهَا ٣ i

And man cries (distressed): 'What is the matter with her?'- (3)

يَوْمَئِذٍ تُحَدِّثُ أَخْبَارَهَا ٤ i

On that Day will she declare her tidings: (4)

بِأَنَّ رَبَّكَ أَوْحَىٰ لَهَا ٥ i

For that thy Lord will have given her inspiration. (5)

يَوْمَئِذٍ يَصْدُرُ النَّاسُ أَشْتَاتًا لِيُرَوْا أَعْمَالَهُمْ ٦ i

On that Day will men proceed in companies sorted out, to be shown the deeds that they (had done). (6)

فَمَنْ يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ خَيْرًا يَرَهُ ٧ i

Then shall anyone who has done an atom's weight of good, see it! (7)

وَمَنْ يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ شَرًّا يَرَهُ ٨ i

And anyone who has done an atom's weight of evil, shall see it. (8)
