Translation: Surah Ash-Sharh (The Relief) سُورَة الشرح

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

أَلَمْ نَشْرَحْ لَكَ صَدْرَكَ ١ i

Have We not expanded thee thy breast?- ⁽¹⁾

وَوَضَعْنَا عَنْكَ وِزْرَكَ ٢ i

And removed from thee thy burden ⁽²⁾

الَّذِي أَنْقَضَ ظَهْرَكَ ٣ i

The which did gall thy back?- ⁽³⁾

وَرَفَعْنَا لَكَ ذِكْرَكَ ٤ i

And raised high the esteem (in which) thou (art held)? ⁽⁴⁾

فَإِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا ٥ i

So, verily, with every difficulty, there is relief: ⁽⁵⁾

إِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا ٦ i

Verily, with every difficulty there is relief. ⁽⁶⁾

فَإِذَا فَرَغْتَ فَانْصَبْ ٧ i

Therefore, when thou art free (from thine immediate task), still labour hard, ⁽⁷⁾

وَإِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَارْغَبْ ٨ i

And to thy Lord turn (all) thy attention. ⁽⁸⁾
