Surah Al-Mursalat (The Emissaries) سُورَة المرسلات

Surah Al-Mursalat is the 77th chapter of the Quran, consisting of 50 verses. It emphasizes the reality of the Day of Judgment, warning the disbelievers and confirming the truth of the Prophetic message. Below are the verses of this Surah.

Surah Al-Mursalat (The Emissaries) — سُورَةُ المرسلات

Also known as: Wa al-Mursalāt ʿUrfā (By Those Sent Forth), al-ʿUrf (The Custom)

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

وَالْمُرْسَلَاتِ عُرْفًا i

77:1

By the (Winds) sent forth one after another (to man's profit); ⁽¹⁾

فَالْعَاصِفَاتِ عَصْفًا i

77:2

Which then blow violently in tempestuous Gusts, ⁽²⁾

وَالنَّاشِرَاتِ نَشْرًا i

77:3

And scatter (things) far and wide; ⁽³⁾

فَالْفَارِقَاتِ فَرْقًا i

77:4

Then separate them, one from another, ⁽⁴⁾

فَالْمُلْقِيَاتِ ذِكْرًا i

77:5

Then spread abroad a Message, ⁽⁵⁾

عُذْرًا أَوْ نُذْرًا i

77:6

Whether of Justification or of Warning;- ⁽⁶⁾

إِنَّمَا تُوعَدُونَ لَوَاقِعٌ i

77:7

Assuredly, what ye are promised must come to pass. ⁽⁷⁾

فَإِذَا النُّجُومُ طُمِسَتْ i

77:8

Then when the stars become dim; ⁽⁸⁾

وَإِذَا السَّمَاءُ فُرِجَتْ i

77:9

When the heaven is cleft asunder; ⁽⁹⁾

وَإِذَا الْجِبَالُ نُسِفَتْ i

77:10

When the mountains are scattered (to the winds) as dust; ⁽¹⁰⁾

وَإِذَا الرُّسُلُ أُقِّتَتْ i

77:11

And when the messengers are (all) appointed a time (to collect);- ⁽¹¹⁾

لِأَيِّ يَوْمٍ أُجِّلَتْ i

77:12

For what Day are these (portents) deferred? ⁽¹²⁾

لِيَوْمِ الْفَصْلِ i

77:13

For the Day of Sorting out. ⁽¹³⁾

وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا يَوْمُ الْفَصْلِ i

77:14

And what will explain to thee what is the Day of Sorting out? ⁽¹⁴⁾

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ i

77:15

Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! ⁽¹⁵⁾

أَلَمْ نُهْلِكِ الْأَوَّلِينَ i

77:16

Did We not destroy the men of old (for their evil)? ⁽¹⁶⁾

ثُمَّ نُتْبِعُهُمُ الْآخِرِينَ i

77:17

So shall We make later (generations) follow them. ⁽¹⁷⁾

كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِالْمُجْرِمِينَ i

77:18

Thus do We deal with men of sin. ⁽¹⁸⁾

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ i

77:19

Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! ⁽¹⁹⁾

أَلَمْ نَخْلُقْكُمْ مِنْ مَاءٍ مَهِينٍ i

77:20

Have We not created you from a fluid (held) despicable?- ⁽²⁰⁾

فَجَعَلْنَاهُ فِي قَرَارٍ مَكِينٍ i

77:21

The which We placed in a place of rest, firmly fixed, ⁽²¹⁾

إِلَىٰ قَدَرٍ مَعْلُومٍ i

77:22

For a period (of gestation), determined (according to need)? ⁽²²⁾

فَقَدَرْنَا فَنِعْمَ الْقَادِرُونَ i

77:23

For We do determine (according to need); for We are the best to determine (things). ⁽²³⁾

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ i

77:24

Ah woe, that Day! to the Rejecters of Truth! ⁽²⁴⁾

أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ الْأَرْضَ كِفَاتًا i

77:25

Have We not made the earth (as a place) to draw together. ⁽²⁵⁾

أَحْيَاءً وَأَمْوَاتًا i

77:26

The living and the dead, ⁽²⁶⁾

وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا رَوَاسِيَ شَامِخَاتٍ وَأَسْقَيْنَاكُمْ مَاءً فُرَاتًا i

77:27

And made therein mountains standing firm, lofty (in stature); and provided for you water sweet (and wholesome)? ⁽²⁷⁾

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ i

77:28

Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! ⁽²⁸⁾

انْطَلِقُوا إِلَىٰ مَا كُنْتُمْ بِهِ تُكَذِّبُونَ i

77:29

(It will be said:) "Depart ye to that which ye used to reject as false! ⁽²⁹⁾

انْطَلِقُوا إِلَىٰ ظِلٍّ ذِي ثَلَاثِ شُعَبٍ i

77:30

"Depart ye to a Shadow (of smoke ascending) in three columns, ⁽³⁰⁾

لَا ظَلِيلٍ وَلَا يُغْنِي مِنَ اللَّهَبِ i

77:31

"(Which yields) no shade of coolness, and is of no use against the fierce Blaze. ⁽³¹⁾

إِنَّهَا تَرْمِي بِشَرَرٍ كَالْقَصْرِ i

77:32

"Indeed it throws about sparks (huge) as Forts, ⁽³²⁾

كَأَنَّهُ جِمَالَتٌ صُفْرٌ i

77:33

"As if there were (a string of) yellow camels (marching swiftly)." ⁽³³⁾

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ i

77:34

Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! ⁽³⁴⁾

هَٰذَا يَوْمُ لَا يَنْطِقُونَ i

77:35

That will be a Day when they shall not be able to speak. ⁽³⁵⁾

وَلَا يُؤْذَنُ لَهُمْ فَيَعْتَذِرُونَ i

77:36

Nor will it be open to them to put forth pleas. ⁽³⁶⁾

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ i

77:37

Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! ⁽³⁷⁾

هَٰذَا يَوْمُ الْفَصْلِ ۖ جَمَعْنَاكُمْ وَالْأَوَّلِينَ i

77:38

That will be a Day of Sorting out! We shall gather you together and those before (you)! ⁽³⁸⁾

فَإِنْ كَانَ لَكُمْ كَيْدٌ فَكِيدُونِ i

77:39

Now, if ye have a trick (or plot), use it against Me! ⁽³⁹⁾

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ i

77:40

Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! ⁽⁴⁰⁾

إِنَّ الْمُتَّقِينَ فِي ظِلَالٍ وَعُيُونٍ i

77:41

As to the Righteous, they shall be amidst (cool) shades and springs (of water). ⁽⁴¹⁾

وَفَوَاكِهَ مِمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ i

77:42

And (they shall have) fruits,- all they desire. ⁽⁴²⁾

كُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا هَنِيئًا بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ i

77:43

"Eat ye and drink ye to your heart's content: for that ye worked (Righteousness). ⁽⁴³⁾

إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ i

77:44

Thus do We certainly reward the Doers of Good. ⁽⁴⁴⁾

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ i

77:45

Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! ⁽⁴⁵⁾

كُلُوا وَتَمَتَّعُوا قَلِيلًا إِنَّكُمْ مُجْرِمُونَ i

77:46

(O ye unjust!) Eat ye and enjoy yourselves (but) a little while, for that ye are Sinners. ⁽⁴⁶⁾

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ i

77:47

Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! ⁽⁴⁷⁾

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ارْكَعُوا لَا يَرْكَعُونَ i

77:48

And when it is said to them, "Prostrate yourselves!" they do not so. ⁽⁴⁸⁾

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ i

77:49

Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! ⁽⁴⁹⁾

فَبِأَيِّ حَدِيثٍ بَعْدَهُ يُؤْمِنُونَ i

77:50

Then what Message, after that, will they believe in? ⁽⁵⁰⁾
