Surah Al-Baqarah — Ayah 247 (Anglo-Saxon English) — Video

Al-Baqarah • Ayah 247 of 286 • Anglo-Saxon English

Translation:
Their Prophet said to them: "Allah hath appointed Talut as king over you." They said: "How can he exercise authority over us when we are better fitted than he to exercise authority, and he is not even gifted, with wealth in abundance?" He said: "Allah hath Chosen him above you, and hath gifted him abundantly with knowledge and bodily prowess: Allah Granteth His authority to whom He pleaseth. Allah careth for all, and He knoweth all things." Al-Baqarah 2:247
Tafsir:
Stirring up controversies on all issues was indicative of their degeneration. God’s decrees are based on knowledge and broadmindedness. Therefore, only that person will be held to be a true believer who is broadminded in his thinking and who takes decisions on the basis of realities rather than prejudices and other petty considerations. The restoration of the Ark of the Covenant was an extraordinary testimony to the appointment of Talut (Saul) by God’s own will.
